  Register for Meetings Here...

The primary means for members of the WI .NET Users Group to interact with each other is through our monthly meetings.  We meet in the Milwaukee area to try and make it as easy as possible for people to participate in our meetings.  We will make every attempt to promptly include presentations and example code from our meetings on this site as soon after the meeting as possible.  Visit the Resources tab, then click on Presentation Downloads where you will find all of the presentations and code conveniently located in one location for your use.

To register for upcoming events, all you need to do is register on our site, then once logged in, visit the meetings tab and click register directly below the meeting(s) you wish to register for.  To un-register, repeat this process and you will see an un-register link to click on.  By registering in advance for our meetings, you help us prepare the right amount of refreshments, the right facilities size, the equipment, and ensure the right number of raffle prizes and sponsors.  Thank you for helping us make the WI .NET Users Group as valuable for all of us as possible.

If you have ideas, suggestions, criticism, or praise for any particular meetings, please let us know by using the contact form on the home page of this site.  Thank you!

September 2010 - Application Instrumentation with WMI
Tuesday, Sep 14, 2010 at 07:00 PM

WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) is most commonly used to query for hard drives, find out what services are running, and other basic Windows functions. But, did you know that you can make your own objects queryable in WMI as well, as well as send custom events? We'll go over how to query machine state with WMI, and then how to instrument your own applications with WMI as well. Finally, I'll show how to make a custom MMC plugin powered with WMI.
